The Centre recently increased the strength of Supreme Court judges from 31 to 34.
Four unique judges had been appointed to the Supreme Court, taking its strength to 34 — the excellent ever. The unique judges are Justice Krishna Murari, Justice S Ravindra Bhat, Justice V Ramasubramanian and Justice Hrishikesh Roy, whose names had been recommended recently by the Collegium headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi. The appointment from President Ram Nath Kovind came on Wednesday and the judges will rep oath on Monday.
Justice V Ramasubramanian is the Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh Excessive Court, Justice Murari is the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana Excessive Court, Justice S Ravindra Bhatt is the Chief Justice of Rajasthan Excessive Court and Justice Hrishikesh Roy is the Chief Justice of Kerala Excessive Court.
The authorities recently increased the strength of the judges from 31 to 34, which contains the Chief Justice of India in peek of the huge backlog of cases. In accordance to the Legislation Ministry, bigger than 11.5 lakh cases had been pending in the tip courtroom in July.

The Collegium’s advice used to be sent earlier this month — days after a difference with the authorities over the appointment of Justice Akil Kureshi because the Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh Excessive Court. The authorities had returned his nomination, asking the collegium to rethink.
Last year, the authorities had returned the advice to elevate Justice KM Joseph, who used to be the Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand Excessive Court, citing insufficient illustration from other states.
An approval came most effective after the collegium sent the advice for a second time.
