    Collegium clears names of 4 HC CJs for elevation to SC

    NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court collegium headed by CJIRanjan Gogoion Thursday decided to recommend to the Union government names of four high court docket chief justices for appointment as judges of the apex court docket.

    The collegium, also comprising Justices S A Bobde, N V Ramana, Arun Mishra and R F Nariman, agreed to recommend appointment of Himachal Pradesh Chief Justice V Ramasubramanian, Punjab andHaryanaHC CJKrishnaMurari,RajasthanHC CJ S Ravindra Bhat andKeralaHC CJ Hrishikesh Roy as judges of the SC.
    The SC, whose sanctioned strength was increased by Parliament this month from 31 to 34 judges at the side of the CJI, has four vacancies, at the side of the one precipitated by retirement of Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre from the SC this week. Prior to the lengthen in sanctioned strength, the SC for the predominant time in a decade was performing at its tubby strength of 31 judges.
